About Lummi Island Grange

For use by island non-profits and Whatcom County government for community meetings.

Free use of Grange Hall to memorialize islanders that have passed.

We fund the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, proving free age-appropriate books for island kids from birth to age 5.

Provides dictionaries to third-grade students to enhance their reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The program aims to equip students with a tool to help them become better writers, readers, and thinkers by providing them with their own dictionaries.

Each year we award a scholarship to an island student.

Celebrate the end of dry dock with us at Alf's Place with live music, beer, drinks and pot luck food!

Held each year on the Saturday falling closest to the holiday. This event involves many of the islanders, working in shifts, to prepare, cook, and serve a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, juice, and coffee. It is a glorious pandemonium for all the workers, who cherish the efforts, and return each year to participate. It is also a long family tradition for many of the attendees, their visiting friends and families, to come together in this special community event.

The Lummi Island Salmon Barbecue is one of the main annual fund raisers, that allows the Grange to continue its contributions to the community. The salmon fis donated by Icy Strait Seafoods. Proceeds from the Salmon Barbecue go to the Lummi Island Grange Scholarship Fund.

On the first Wednesday of August we host an all island potluck supper where we announce and celebrate a deserving Islander (usually not a Grange Member) as Citizen of the Year. If you have someone you’d like to nominate, let us know!

In the Fall the Grange hosts a live music / food / dance party in our beer garden called Alf’s Place. Get ready by taking line dance lessons in the spring and summer months.

Come celebrate Lummi Island! In the past we have had kazoo marching bands, lawn chair drill teams, kids with bikes or in wagons, old cars, mermaids, lawnmower drill teams, poodles on parade, jellyfish, and many other wacky participants all preceded by our illustrious fire department. Anything goes! Get your family, friends and neighbors involved.

Host (or co-host) free educational events such as townhalls, candidate forums, septic inspection classes, free line dance lessons.

Every Halloween the Grange hosts a yummy and super affordable drive-up take-away meal at the Spooky Kitchen Door of the Creepy Grange Hall. Come show us your costumes!

The puzzle exchange allows residents to donate and pick up puzzles, offering a way to share and enjoy puzzles. Thanks to Larry Roteman, who built the exchange!

The first Saturday of December the Grange organizes a Bazaar featuring Island Crafters, Authors and Artists. Originally held at the Grange Hall, as the event grew in size we moved to the Gym of Beach School.
